.-Maruani Mercier is presenting a group exhibition with a selection of eighteen artworks all executed in the same year, lending the presentation its title: 1986.
In the history of the United States, the year 1986 is remarkable for its major developments in science, technology and mass culture, marking a period of breakthrough and upheaval. IBM unveiled the very first laptop computer, the protocol for what would later become e-mail was designed, Halley s Comet became the first to be observed in detail by spacecraft and the Human Genome Project launched. At the same time, there emerged a growing distrust in these forms of progress and the governments who championed them, triggered by events such as the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion, the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, and the escalating AIDS crisis. Vexus Contracting LLC won the bid for the Expo building storage project just north of the covered arena.
Claremore City Engineer Garrett Ball said this project costs $327,000 and includes footings, a concrete slab and the 100-foot by 125-foot metal building package.
Ball said this project will be primarily used to store portable bleachers and miscellaneous items.
âThe hope is to clean the whole site up a bit,â he said.
Ball said the project will start in 30â45 days and Vexus Contracting LLC will have 120 days to complete it.
âIn conjunction with this project, weâve also done some substantial storm drain improvements there at the expo,â he said. âWere hoping this project as a whole ends up improving the storm water discharge from the site.

.- Most people know the iconic sculpture Ossip Zadkine made to commemorate the destroyed city of Rotterdam, less known is that post-war Rotterdam build an extensive, internationally renowned collection of sculptures. From 2021 onwards, the Droom en Daad (Dream and Do) Foundation will further enrich this collection in the future with new acquisitions by international artists. The first two sculptures will be placed next year: L Âge d Or by Gavin Turk and The Plait by Kalliopi Lemos. Both pieces were acquired at the Frieze Art Fair 2020 and were exhibited last autumn in Regent s Park in London.
